Scam email: Evans Tim, Barrister to the late Mr. Morris Thompson

Scam Money Transfer Emails:
Evans Tim, Barrister to Mr. Morris Thompson,
an American who unfortunately lost his life in the plane crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261

"Evans Tim", another pseudonym used by a really stupid scammer, stars in the sample scam email below.  This scammer must be one of the dumbest around.  Not only is his spelling, punctuation and grammar pathetic, but he doesn't even understand that the English name he is trying to use ought to be "Tim Evans", not "Evans Tim".  Here it is, for your entertainment and education, with key passages that are clues to the scam highlighted, such as poor grammar, poor punctuation, spelling errors, the money comes from a dead person (assassinated by rebels, no less!), blah, blah, blah.  "Evans Tim" claims to be a lawyer.  In most countries, a person with advanced education would be able to spell simple works correctly.

Note that the airline crash and name of the dead passenger may be real, but so what?  Anyone can look up an news story on the internet, then copy some of the details into an email.

And, as usual, even if this were all true and he really was a lawyer representing the estate of a dead millionaire... then he's proposing that you assist in fraud and money laundering.  Those are federal crimes.

Don't be an idiot.  Do not reply to scam emails like the one above!

And please let us know about any suspicious calls or emails you receive.  We look for patterns so that we can alert the authorities and victims to new scams, before it is too late!
