Have you received an email like the one below, claiming to be from the "Consumer Business Bureau" and stating "We are a new and innovative site designed to act as an advocate for the consumer to successfully resolve complaints involving consumer to business and/or business to business transactions involving the sale or advertisement of a service or product."  The email comes from:

• Kennedy Phillips at careers@consumer-business-bureau.com
• Others?

We're currently investigating these.  The name and text of the email are IDENTICAL to scams from Ask-America (see this page), a sham company with a fake address that the BetterBusinessBureau gives an unsatisfactory rating to.

More evidence that this is likely a scam is:

1. A search in Google on March 31, 2007 for "Consumer-Business-Bureau.com" produces NO results at all. 
2. They claim to be a consumer complaint reporting firm, but their database has only 3 listings in it (as of March 31, 2007). By comparison, the BBB's has tens of thousands.
3. And BEST OF ALL: There is NO WAY TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEM! All of the links for "File a complaint" lead to "browse complaints".  You CANNOT file a complaint.  Isn't that odd for a for a company that exists to take complaints?
4. If you fill out their job application, under their careers section, it asks for information about how you paid for college, student loans and do you want to start a business - EXACTLY like many other scam websites that then send you loan applications and online college applications.
5. They are also using an alternative domain name: www.c-b-bureau.com. Why?

It is POSSIBLE that Consumer-Business-Bureau.com is a brand new company, and that's explains the previous evidence. It could ALSO be a phishing scam and/or possible job scam. 

We believe the latter is far more likely! We'll keep you posted if we find out more about them.
