Lottery Scams: UK National/PRIZE AWARD DEPT

Lottery Scam Email:
UK National/PRIZE AWARD DEPT
"Becky Owen, David Nelson"

If you receive an email from the UK National/PRIZE AWARD DEPT or the National Lottery claiming you won a prize, it is a scam - no matter what amount it says, or what names or addresses they use! They seem to like the names Becky Owen and David Nelson, as these appear frequently in these scams.

No legitimate lottery emails winners to tell them they won, and the UK National Lottery DOES NOT run any sweepstakes or giveaways - YOU MUST PAY TO PLAY IN THE UK!

Note the usual clues to an obvious fraud that we have highlighted in the letter.  Especially notice the free Yahoo email return address, poor spelling, lousy grammar and syntax, strange punctuation and almost random use of capital letters, warning to keep the information confidential (they're afrid ConsumerFraudReporting.org will hear of them and publish the scam!) and the ever present "computer ballot system" (which , of course is UTTER nonsense)..

This one is really too stupid to believe that anyone would fall for it...  And for another, even worse attempt Microsoft scam, see this page.
